Thank you for joining for our Epilepsy Awareness Blog Hop. You will see great projects and read about some of our personal experiences with Epilepsy.
Epilepsy is a medical condition that produces different types of seizures. Epilepsy affects 50 million people worldwide. If you would like to read more information about Epilepsy you can go to the Epilepsy foundation online at : www.epilepsyfoundation.org

Please begin this hop at:

My project is a card I made for my husband because he is in the hospital after suffering 10 Grand Mal seizures.  It's hard to watch him go through all the pain and suffering that comes after his seizures.  During his seizures, he thrusts around, sometimes causing him to fall off a chair or fall out of bed.  He chews up his mouth quite a bit so that it makes it hard to eat or drink anything for about a week afterwards.  He fell out of bed this time which gave him a big bump on his head.  Afterwards, he runs a fever and has a hard time remembering who I am or what my name is.  I kid with him later that he always remembers Pugsley, our dog, before he remembers me.  Sometimes the seizures cause a release of his body fluids.  I just visited my husband today at the hospital and he got really angry at me because I told him I was going home and that he had to stay there.  I have to say I don't like seeing him this way.  While my mom and I were visiting him, he just sat and stared ahead or at the television.  He spaces out and can't identify with people or things.  His neurologist told me that sometime my husband may have a seizure and go into a coma and never wake up.  It would be so hard to live without him, he is my world.  I love him a lot.  His father told me not to marry him because it would be hard living with Shawn but I told his father that I love Shawn and know what I am getting myself into.  It hasn't been easy but I understand he goes through a lot and the fact is I love him.  So now it's time to show the card I made for my husband, who totally supports my crafting and is very patient as I tell him about my crafting and the things that happen online.
To be eligible for my blog candy, you MUST visit my blog and leave a comment on my blog for the day and also become a follower at "Scrapping With Lisa" and my facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Scrapping-with-Lisa/130882060268842.  Please let me know if you don't do facebook and I won't count that against you for the blog candy.  Now for the blog candy, I bet you are wondering what it could be.   It will be a grab bag full of goodies.

Your next stop is Zenita- http://www.scrappinwithz.blogspot.com .  Have a great day and please stop back tomorrow for another great project.

Fantastic card Lisa. I think your story brings up a good point to us that live with Epilepsy, that it's not only hard on us but the people that love us and live with us. Its easy to go into a pity party about our seizures without ever giving a second thought to the people that witness them, and take care of us while we can't take care of ourselves. Thanks so much for giving me a little insight. I hope your husband gets better soon and can come home. Take care of yourself too, it sounds stressful.

Hey Lisa,
Your card is beautiful and I am so sorry to hear what your husband goes through. I have seizures as well, because of my brain tumor and I've never thought about what my family see's or goes through when I have one. Thanks for making me think about the other side of this situation.
Lots of Love
Sherry

OMG, your story so touched me. I am not the caregiver for the person, I am the epileptic. But it has always been so hard on me to watch my husband. I know he loves me, but you feel so helpless and dependant at times. You don't want to be a burden on the one you love. I know you don't ever think of your husband that way, just as my husband would never say that about me, but when you are the person who is sick you do feel that way. Esp in cases where you feel like you are only going to get sicker. It was so hard to my husband John to get me to open up and get close because I knew when I was younger and my seizures were uncontrolled that I was only going to get sicker. That even though right then I was seemingly healthy and independant and sucessful that eventually what I could give me would never equal what he would have to provide me. It took a long time for me to just accept that he could just love me. And I mean ME, sickness and all. I know how special he is, so I know how special that must mean you are. Hearing YOUR story really makes me feel better. I will pray for you and your husband. You can read my story on Holley's Blog (my case has a happy ending :) You are an amazing person. Thanks for sharing.

beautiful card for your hubby and I hope he gets to come home soon. I know when I am in and out of my seizure states I am totally unaware of who my family is. I know it just breaks their hearts, but they understand and let it go.

Thanks for the chance at the candy. I follow your blog and I am a facebook follower too :)

WONDERFUL card! I hope by now your hubby has been able to come home from the hospital. I know how much it sucks being in the hospital for an extended stay(and I remember being in the hospital as a kid after my grand mal seizures...it was NEVER fun) It has been a pleasure to be in this hop with you, I am very sorry it has taken me so long to get through it.
